Rockridge apartment- score!

Rockridge apartment- score!

I am so excited and thankful: we found the perfect apartment in Rockridge, one of Oakland’s most awesomest -we think- neighborhood! Hardwood floors, lots of light, plenty of storage, and cool architectural details make up for the smaller kitchen, lack of a dishwasher and (sort of) crappy bathroom. Apartment hunting tip: to secure a sweet abode in a high demand, big city-neighborhood, go to the open house with check in hand. Seriously. In order to beat out the dozen other people looking at this place, we wrote a check right then & there. And that’s just to be first in line for the whole credit-check thing. Now comes the fun part- shopping for furniture & making this place feel like home. It’s time for furniture consignment shop hopping!

I made it!

I made it!

So here I am, in the bay area! This time, I’m not visiting, but I live here and it feels awesome. You know you’ve moved to the right place when you’re only there for a few days and you already feel at home. My husband & I are staying with our best friend, Karim, in Oakland – Lake Merritt area. It’s October and it’s about 8o degrees out and sunny- you gotta love that. During a stroll around the neighborhood I discover a building on Bellevue Avenue with some trompe l’oeil hinges on the facade.  Pretty cool. There seems to be art and design literally on every corner of this visually stunning city and I can’t wait to take it all in. More on my adventures in my new city soon!
